DIY Pretty White Bottles ...(and promises of Spring)

You need:

  • a few empty, clean glass bottles
  • spray paint
  • flowers

We love root beer around here, so there's always a few bottles in the fridge.

Since I've studied color most of my life (art classes, interior design, photography, and then hair) I know that white does not mean white. There are about a thousand shades of it, and I prefer the ones that are warmer. I picked a shade called "heirloom white," which has a bit of a warm, cream tone to it.

Spray an even, light coat, and set each bottle aside to dry for a few minutes. I put about 4 coats total on each bottle.

All done! On one of our long walks last week, I gathered a few branches from trees along the way that were starting to sprout. I love these little promises of Spring, and fill my house with them every year. This branch already bloomed within 2 days of being in the warm indoors.

    ...

I feel huge, friends. Only 6 weeks to go, and I don't know how I could possible get any bigger. Breathing, walking, bending over, standing on my feet, and doing anything other than sleeping and eating has become quite difficult. I am thankful for this delicious Spring weather, and a chance to ride my bike and walk outdoors, again. It's been nice to stretch my wings and get some fresh air.

    Happy weekend!

    4. I love the DIY bottles - my husband has boxes sitting around that he claims he will use one day...but not if I use them first! hehe.
You're a week behind me, pregnancy-wise...Isn't it unreal how, out of the blue, our feet and ankles start looking like pillows?!

    11. You look beautiful and the biggest promise of spring is your belly-flower and your baby-fruit! Isn't it a good reason for feeling huge? Enjoy that time!

    13. Cute idea! I'm a big fan of using random glass bottles jars as well for flowers and shells but I would have never thought to spray paint them white. I bet that would look lovely on an old wine bottle! Your bump is growing fast, as always, you look great! :)

    16. Thanks for the great tutorial Aura! It made me chuckle because when my husband came to Canada to visit me he tried root beer for the first time, and the look on his face was priceless. He was expecting Ginger beer and almost spat out the root beer; he hated it! By the by, you look gorgeous and not huge at all! x

    17. I do this too! Except I prefer a gloss paint and I have to paint the top part of the bottle that you see down into, haha. It's also great for if you find a hideous vase or picture frame on clearance but love the shape or style of them - cheap and simple solution! That's how we did everything sitting on Charlie's room shelves. You look fabulous as ever!

    25. Looking great as always! ;)

You're so very lucky to be getting Spring-ish weather. It's about -25'C up here in Alberta, Canada! My place isn't as decorative as yours at the moment, so I've been dying to get outside to take photos. I'm going insane being cooped up! However, I've been finding plenty of inspiration to tide me over, including your posts! :D

Anywho, best wishes to you during the rest of your pregnancy!

    27. I love the way these bottles look! I recently embarked on a project painting recycled glass containers for planting herbs and, though they're cute, I wish they had a little more detail to them like your Root Beer bottles... Anyway these look great and wow 34 weeks - I can't believe you're riding a bike this far along!

    31. i'm in the process of setting up my own separate living room in my parents house and just did some spray painting outside yesterday, i got two of the mix and match lamp bases at target and painted them light blue, they look great from afar but close up they have some bumps on them from little particles that were floating in the air outside, spray painting is not as easy as it sounds when you're a perfectionist :)

i'm excited to see the baby's room, knowing you you're still adding and editing things everyday, but from the small glimpses i've gotten of it, it looks amazing!

    33. you are looking beautiful! trust me, i'm at 38 weeks and didn't think it was possible to get any bigger...and then I did. :) i think it's natures way of frustrating us with enough discomfort so we are prepared for the next step...getting the baby out. best of luck to you...not much left!
