First day of Summer....

Happy Summer, friends.

I can't believe it's the first day when it's already been so hot here, for so long.
So far our Summer has been filled with lots of mosquito bites, the garden, patio nights with friends, music, roadtrips, grilling, swimming holes, and fireflies.

This is my favorite time of year, and I think that even though today marks day one, it's Summer in my heart all year long.

I hope this is the best one you've had, yet.
Hello, Summer '10.

PS, I forgot to mention earlier that these are peaches and apricots from my parents fruit trees. We were in the backyard picking them, seeing who could throw them the farthest at the big old tree on the hill, and eating fresh peaches right off the tree. It was so sweet.

The maters and flowers are mine.

Everything looks so lovely and lush...it's been rainy and gray ever since I arrived in Portland. I'm beginning to believe I'll never see the sun!

I've been thinking the same thing, it's SO HOTT! However it's been raining here in the sunshine state for about the last week, so it's cooled down slightly. Enjoy your summertime! :)

I love how pretty OKlahoma summers are.
So colorful! It took me may years to realize I actually like the state I have grown up in.

Ahh I miss the summer so much.. I don't know what is happening here, but it's freaking cold! We have only 62F here, with extreme wind when it's supposed to be so hot and sunny.

Rachel- Hang in there! I get so depressed when the sun doesn't come out. I think that maybe you might have picked a bad spot if you're wanting sunshine :) But I've heard so many wonderful things about Portland, so I'm sure everything will be fine.

Erin- Me too, girl. I was in college before I finally started to appreciate Oklahoma. And only now do I not only appreciate it, but favor it over a lot of states for a lot of reasons.

Lesley- I sent an email your way!

Hello, sweet Noreen :) Of course I remember you, I still read your journal, creeping in the shadows! I'm glad to see you around, again. I hope life is treating you well, beautiful girl.

Sini- Most Oklahomans would kill for 62F right now!! We're hitting 100 degrees and dripping with humidity. But of course I love every sticky second of it :)

Thank you, every one!! When I figure out how to pick out and dry sunflower seeds, I'm hoping to do some giveaway for packets of my seeds. That's if I can figure it out :)

everything looks so beautiful AND delicious!

You know I read somewhere that Basil is a natural mosquito repellent. I'm not sure if that is true but I'm tempted to buy a 2nd plant to put on the front porch where we hang out until the sun sets at night.

Stay cool darling!
