Decorating Around The House

When the temperatures are freezing outside and I am stuck in the house, I spend a lot of time arranging, rearranging, and arranging some more. One of my biggest passions is design, color, and the warm feeling of knowing that a space you've created can feel inspirational. On my list of the many things I hope to accomplish before I'm too old to do them, Interior Design has always been at the top.

These days, I am pulling out all our shells from trips to the beach, fresh flowers and plants, and bright colors. One little change and your mood is brightened, as well.

You can visit my Pinterest to see the small places and spaces I find inspirational.
I started it in an attempt to clear off my desktop, because I'm known to have dozens of folders full of pretty things.

Beautiful! Looks like a catalog from Pottery Barn! Where did you get the plates from?

You have so lovely home, Aura. And how everything is so natural.

I have the itch to re-decorate our home as almost everything we have is from the apartment owner and not so stylish. French homes are not that sylish than people think ;) I just can't find any drift stores or flea markets here, without it would be antique prices too.

Monica- My favorite part is the little details! I know nobody else in the world would notice which direction I put each little shell, but it's just something I do.

Jacki- You know the way to my heart :) I got my first PB catalog int he Summer of 2006, and I've kept every once since. They're like encyclopedias, for me. I have to be dragged out of that store!
The plates were $1.99 each from TJ Maxx. Places like that and Ross always have cheap plates, no need to spend a fortune.

Sini- You're ruining my daydreams of beautiful French homes!! :) I bet antiques are a lot harder to come by, there.
Here, it's not a big market so they're cheap and easy to come by. Especially when we travel to places like Arkansas...I make Michael stop at every little junk pile I see.

I love all of these beautiful details. You are really excellent at collecting! I'd never heard of Pinterest, but I can't wait to get my invite. I too have a folders full of inspiration, but they're hoarded away on 3 different hard drives. This is the perfect solution! I'll add you and we can share. :)

I'm in the nesting phase right now as well and you've inspired me to bring the outside (minus the snow) in! I'm going to work right now.

Aura, you're so inspirational! where do you get all of your fresh flowers? I miss those spring days when I could walk outside and pick some tulips and wild flowers from the ground.

I adore Pottery Barn as well...I pour over the catologs as they come through the mail. I've even considered getting a part time job there because I hear that the discount is something crazy like 40% - who knows if it's really true!
As always very pretty photos! You've been such an inspiration to me and although I've always loved taking photos your blog has really inspired me to take it a bit furthur. I'm still feeling out my new camera, but I'm having a good time snapping photos. I've always learned a lot about photoshop from your blog too... I love how you extend canvases to your photos so much so that I took it upon myself to figure out how to do it myself!

Also that pininterest business seems kind of neat... You can keep a collection of photos online without having to download them to your computer? I've started a collection of photos for our future home, but having to download them to my computer and then to an upload to an online album is kind of a pain. You may be on to something! ;)

I too am constantly arranging, rearranging and arranging again. Randy always says,"where did that table go? or I thought there was a lamp here yesterday!" I always say that I shouldn't gone into Interior design, because that's my true passion. Since I didn't, my home is my canvas now.

I have no natural sense of decoration (fortunately husband does) so it's great to peruse your ideas.

I think the pitchfork will have to go when baby comes. ;-)

Wow - full of inspiration and lovely textures, too. Wonderfully styled.

Aura: Your kitchen window (with the green curtains)Luv them --so do those go to the floor or just to your window seal?? Just curious as my kitchen/dining area seems very similar?? Always been torn what length I would like as the table sits right in front of the window?
