A day outdoors.

These photos were taken 3 weekends ago, when I was 18 weeks pregnant. It's amazing to see how much I am growing and changing in just a few short weeks.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend. I spent the night of my birthday (Saturday) feeling a bit sick, and the rest of the weekend both Michael and I puked our guts out. Thanks to a nasty stomach bug, I went 24 hours without any food or liquid and barely escaped having to get IV's for dehydration. Fortunately, last night my sister-in-law came over and saved the day with some of her nurse care and today I am feeling much more like myself. I went for a long walk this morning and got some much-needed fresh air.
I hate being sick and feeling sorry for myself, but when there is a little baby involved in the process, it makes me feel ten times worse. All I could think about was if she had an upset stomach, too.

We bought our crib this weekend, and Michael's parents are picking it up with a truck and bringing it in a few hours. We didn't expect to have to put the nursery together so quickly, but when we found the crib of my dreams (the very last one, floor model) for $200 off, we snatched it up. Putting this little room together has been so exciting and fun for me. I can't wait to show you all the finished project.

As always, thank you all for your thoughtful comments on the last post. For some reason I always pictured myself with a house full of boys and pockets full of rocks and toads. A baby girl might be just what I need as a little partner in crime for all my gardening, sewing, and cooking.
Happy Monday, lovelies.

I'm sure that baby was breathing in all the fresh air, just as you were :)

Your photos are so, so beautiful!

We don't get a fall in Thailand so I love looking through people's blogs from the States - lots of good food and cold weather lately, jealous!

LOVE these pictures.

so glad you are feeling better. I actually had the swine flu when I was 17 weeks pregnant (I worked at an elementary school it was everywhere). Being sick is one thing, being sick and pregnant is very very different. My grandma says if you get sick while you are pregnant, it makes your baby tough :]

Are you still only using the 28-135 lens? Just wondering....I love the bokah :-)

Aura said...

Thank you, every one.

Kathleen- I agree with your Grandma :)

Lara- Yup, it's my only lens for now. I broke my other one so all the pictures from the last month or so and for the next few months will be with my 28-135.
I'd either like to get a wide-angle lens, or a macro next. But who knows if that will even happen, because I have my eye on a new camera, for now. I just don't think it's the best idea to spend almost $2,000 right now with baby on the way :)

Aw! AURA. alskdfjal;s I recall prophesying to you about a 3.2 million posts ago that you were having a little baby girl, and now you owe me $10. ;-) Anyway, I'm super excited for you, and now I also have to tell you, that my birthday is April 8th (I mean, that's your due date, right?), so dude! I hope she comes exactly on time and doesn't make you wait any extra. Your parents are going to be so lucky to have a grandchild of each gender!

Oh, yeah, and before I forget --congratulations! No one deserves it more than you. Baby is going to be bee-yew-tif-ful.

P.S. I should mention that I heard this song on the radio the other day, and it reminded me of when you only used to listen to hardcore rap. I miss that! So you have to tell me, do you ever have one those days where you kindly remove Jack Johnson from the CD player and throw on some Bone Thugs, when no one's looking? Ha ha.

My due date moved! It's actually the 6th now. I've been predicting since the day I found out I was pregnant that I would have her on the 4th, so we'll see where I end up. And I still listen to rap :) My ipod is a hugeee mix of random music from middle school to now.
When I was sick on the couch yesterday, I watched Notorious and almost died. Oh, how I loved that era of music! I knew all the words to every song.

Ashley- I have probably been to the Wichita Mountains 15 times in the last few years and I've never, ever seen an elk! I have no idea where it came from.

Sick on your birthday, and I'm sure you were worried about that little sweet pea...I'm glad you're feeling better. I cannot wait to see pictures of her nursery with your keen eye I'm sure it's turning out beautifully! I have this vision of a room in my house, where I have my new sewing machine, that will be the perfect baby room one day. I have so many Ideas for it...when I see pictures I save them for when that day comes. Have fun with it, sweetie and I'm glad you're feeling better.

Is this in the Wichita Mountains? We have been to the Quartz Mountains close by, but I've never been to the Wichitas. My husband has a few days off coming up and I'm looking to do some exploring so I'm thinking we just might have to take a road trip here! Any recommendations? Favorite trails?

Aura said...

Ashley- Yes, they're the Wichita's. We honestly never stay on the trails so I'm not much help with names. When you enter the park, you can pick up a map and it has them all marked!

I love your nature photos. The way you see the outdoors is so beautiful, you just can tell you love it. I definitely can't wait to see how you decorate your nursery. And Happy Birthday!!! for Saturday! :) So sorry you were sick.

I am craving a good climbing hike off a trail. I need friends like you so I don't have to go alone! :) :) :)

Have a good week! :)

I love looking at your photos. They make me want to go exploring. What kind of camera do you have?

Good for you for staying active! At 26 weeks myself, I know that I feel my best when I'm outside and moving around. We're expecting a little girl too which was a complete shock because we always envisioned a house full of boys but we're so in love with the thought of having a little girl that we wouldn't have it any other way :) take care of yourself!

Your photos are breathtaking! And you look absolutely stunning! So at peace out in nature. I feel like there is something special to be said about women who are pregnant. They just exude this sense of mysterious inner knowing. Like they hold a precious secret. I'm sorry you were feeling blechy, but hopefully you feel right as rain now. I can't wait to see how the nursery turns out!
Take care!
Blessing and Love.

It looks so warm still in these pictures and sunny, like summer. I hope you and M are feeling already good, it sucks to have such a stomach bug.Have a great week!

A little girl sounds so lovely. I live in a house full of boys, with pockets full of rocks. Literally. Oh and they're currently raising silk worms in their room.

You are going to need a good back pack carrier for little Joon so that she can go hiking with you.

Happy Belated Birthday Aura! ox I am so sorry you had to be sick for it. I'm glad you're feeling better. I've always wanted little boys but something tells me I may end up with a little girl of my own - I your comment about a partner in crime. My mother and I were always so close - I am sure you and your little bundle of joy will be too! oxox

Don't discount those rocks & toads just yet. You just never know--even with little girls!

I love how so "at peace" you seem. You really seem focused on this baby and having your body work with hers. I have never been pregnant before but I can't imagine hiking--you are an admiration.

I get so excited when I see that you have a new blog post. I just started a blog so maybe one day someone will be like that with mine. I was wondering if you edit your pictures on a certain website?
